The Other Side of the Street (2004)

The Other Side of the Street [O Outro Lado da Rua] tells the story of a criminal investigation of sorts, but it really is just the portrait of a lonely and bitter woman who is trapped in her isolated existence. Great performances by the core cast do not really help to make this film as a whole work.

Good Manners (2017)

A very interesting, very well-made film with strong acting performances, Good Manners is a challenging and overly-long genre-hybrid that is difficult to describe or recommend.

Zama (2017)

I sincerely disliked Zama. It is an “artfilm” of the worst kind: long, incoherent, and beloved by a very special breed of film critic.

If you are a hardcore Greenaway fan, you might possibly enjoy Zama, everyone else is far better off avoiding this film.

But watching this film you also begin to wonder if dragging everything into the light is really all that beneficial.
