Rey (2017)

An experimental film which tells a true story, but tells it more like an incoherent fever dream – apt, since there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding these true events. A hardcore arthouse piece, but one worth watching if this is your thing.

Oblivion Verses (2017)

The aged protagonist of Alireza Khatami’s debut film is in some ways a lost and broken man. And yet he seems content; and through his job, which he takes very seriously, he has a purpose in life. But his little world is threatened by violent outside forces, by a re-emerging autocracy whose corruption and covert dealings won’t allow him to do his job properly.

Zama (2017)

I sincerely disliked Zama. It is an “artfilm” of the worst kind: long, incoherent, and beloved by a very special breed of film critic.

If you are a hardcore Greenaway fan, you might possibly enjoy Zama, everyone else is far better off avoiding this film.
